Actua Welcomes Federal Investment In Canada’s National AI Literacy Initiative
OTTAWA, ON - Sept 10, 2026
Actua welcomes the Government of Canada’s newly announced AI Literacy Initiative in partnership with Amii. The investment aims to build AI literacy for 1 million post-secondary students and 50,000 educators and expand access to AI learning opportunities for Canadians across the country.
“AI literacy has quickly become an essential skill for every young person in Canada, and this investment is an important first step,” says Jennifer Flanagan, co-founder and CEO of Actua. “We look forward to seeing how this investment will be extended beyond classrooms to build critical AI skills in their everyday lives. Young people need access to meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities that build the skills, knowledge and confidence to understand and navigate AI both in school and beyond.”
Actua is ready to work with Amii and the Government of Canada to help close this gap, delivering trusted AI literacy programming to youth and educators across the country, including in rural, northern and underserved communities.
This investment is an important foundation. Now we need to build on it. Ensuring Canada is ready for an AI-enabled future means giving young people the knowledge, skills and confidence to understand, navigate and shape AI and ensuring those opportunities begin early and are available to every young person in Canada.
