Actua is a network-driven organization. We proudly represent over 40 universities and colleges across Canada, delivering hands-on STEM programming to youth in every province and territory.
Engaging Youth in Regional Programs
Network members deliver a collection of on and off-campus STEM programs. These high-impact, accessible and relevant programs inspire and prepare youth, age 6-26, to be leaders and innovators in STEM. Our objective is to engage youth early and often. All programs build confidence and critical employability skills and include:
Camps
Week-long day camps provide a variety of fun, hands-on STEM activities. Mostly offered during school holidays, these camps often have weekly themes and both co-ed and all-girls camps are available.
Workshops
In-school and out-of-school workshops are designed to make learning outcomes of provincial or territorial curricula come alive with hands-on activities and exciting demonstrations. Teachers can select from various STEM themes and book workshops directly through a local network member program.
Clubs
Year-round after-school and weekend clubs give youth opportunities to explore a wide variety of STEM fields while making friends and interacting with inspiring mentors. Some clubs are co-ed, and many offer an all-girls option.
Enabling a Network of Trailblazers
Together, our network is constantly learning and collaborating. We convene around critical issues and emerging knowledge in STEM education and develop open-sourced content relevant to current and future careers in STEM. Network members also have access to an online portal with a collection of tools and resources, including:
Training and Professional Development
Live and on-demand courses covering topics such as classroom management, national trends in STEM outreach, diversity, equity and inclusion in STEM, Indigenous worldviews, content development and more.
Capacity-Building Resources
Guiding principles, resources, tools and templates to deliver high-quality programs focused on building the most relevant and in-demand skills needed for youth to thrive.
Funding
Opportunities to apply for fast and dependable funding to grow and strengthen programs.
Peer-to-Peer Networking
Discussion boards and interactive events to exchange ideas and learn from a diverse pool of expertise.
